BillingBest ABA Revenue Dashboard Metrics: 6 Cards Every Owner Should Check Weekly

The six revenue metrics an ABA center should watch: billed vs collected, accounts receivable and aging with days in AR, held charges, denial rate by payer, top denial reasons, and shadow vs live claims.
Owners don't need forty charts. TargetFlo's Billing → Revenue has six — each answers one question, with totals only and no client names.
1. Billed vs collected (12 months)
Billed by the month a claim was sent; collected by the month the payment was dated. The gap is your cash lag.
2. Accounts receivable and aging
Open balance on sent claims — charge minus paid, patient responsibility, adjustments and write-offs — aged by days since submission, plus days in AR.
3. Held charges
The value and count of charges waiting on a fix, and the top five hold reasons. This is revenue you've earned but can't bill yet.
4. Denial rate by payer (180 days)
Of claims with a posted payment, how many had a denial — per payer.
5. Top denial reasons (180 days)
The ten reason codes costing the most, with their denial category.
6. Shadow vs live (12 months)
Claims built in shadow mode vs claims actually sent — your go-live progress per month.
A weekly 10-minute routine
- Held charges first — fix the top reason.
- Days in AR — is it rising?
- Top denial reasons — one upstream fix per week.
A monthly rollup also stores collections per month (Medicaid vs commercial) for reporting.
